I learned that the connection between the pen and the tips is called a converter, and one must be extremely careful when changing brass tips when they are hot because the converter can bend and get damaged. This can make finding replacements a strenuous task. I also learned that experts in this field prefer tools that are more expensive, but they come with a solid wire tip and sometimes even two pens, making the art of wood-burning easier to master.
